We are seeking an experienced Technical Application Specialist to join a leading organisation within the financial services industry on a 12-month contract based on site on a full‑time basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the support, maintenance, administration and enhancement of critical IT applications, with a strong focus on SharePoint On‑Premises environments. The role requires a technically strong specialist who can ensure application availability, system health, security compliance and optimal performance while engaging effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
- A Degree (NQF Level
7) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management or an equivalent relevant qualification. - 6–8 years' experience in SharePoint On‑Premises administration.
- Demonstrable experience in setting up, administering, maintaining and upgrading SharePoint On‑Premises environments.
- Extensive experience troubleshooting complex SharePoint On‑Premises issues.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including Data Gateway services.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, IIS, TCP/IP and VLAN technologies.
- Experience identifying and remediating vulnerabilities highlighted through infrastructure and application security scans.
- Strong application support and troubleshooting capabilities within enterprise environments.
- Ability to work across technical and business teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels.
- Willingness and availability to participate in after‑hours standby, production changes and business continuity exercises.

- Support, maintain and enhance assigned IT applications to ensure optimal performance, availability and system health.
- Maintain applications by implementing corrective measures, including patches, upgrades, bug fixes and remediation activities.
- Proactively monitor application upgrades, new releases, product changes and replacements that may impact supported applications.
- Configure application infrastructure to optimise performance and implement new features and functionality.
- Administer, maintain and support SharePoint On‑Premises – Subscription Edition environments.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve medium‑to‑high‑complexity technical application issues.
- Engage with users, developers, infrastructure teams and other stakeholders to resolve application‑related incidents and problems.
- Monitor system availability and performance and provide relevant reports, recommendations and technical insights to senior management and stakeholders.
- Proactively manage business and stakeholder relationships relating to application support.
- Maintain compliance with applicable application, infrastructure and information security standards.
- Remediate application and infrastructure vulnerabilities identified through security scans.
- Provide technical knowledge and guidance to system development and support teams.
- Remain current with emerging technologies, industry best practices and developments relevant to the supported environment.
- Participate in after‑hours standby arrangements.
- Implement approved production changes outside normal business hours when required.
- Participate in and provide technical support during business continuity and disaster recovery exercises, which may take place after hours.
