About the Role

Our client, a key player in the telecommunications industry , is seeking a dedicated Telecom Network Operations Specialist to manage and optimize their network infrastructure in Centurion . This role is essential for ensuring the continuous availability and performance of critical telecom services, supporting a vast customer base across the region. You will be involved in the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the network, working closely with engineering and support teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the stability and growth of a vital South African sector and develop expertise in network operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor network traffic, performance, and availability using specialized tools, identifying and resolving anomalies.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on network equipment, including software updates and configuration backups.
  • Respond to network incidents and outages, performing initial diagnostics and implementing timely resolutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on network upgrades, capacity planning, and the implementation of new technologies.
  • Generate regular reports on network performance, incident trends, and operational efficiency for management review.
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures and security protocols within the telecom environment.
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network operations or a similar technical role within the telecoms sector.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds, PRTG) and ticketing systems.
  • Understanding of IP networking , TCP/IP protocols, and basic routing and switching concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical information clearly in Gauteng .
