About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and insightful Senior Sports Analyst to join their team in Durban . In this critical role, you will delve deep into sports data, providing advanced statistical analysis and strategic insights to enhance team performance, scouting, and game planning. You will work closely with coaches, athletes, and management to translate complex data into actionable intelligence that drives competitive advantage.

This position requires a strong analytical mindset, a passion for sports, and the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, contributing to data-driven decision-making within the organization.

• Conduct in-depth statistical analysis of player and team performance using advanced quantitative methods.
• Develop and maintain performance metrics dashboards and reports for various stakeholders, including coaching staff and management.
• Identify trends, patterns, and predictive insights from game data to inform strategic decision-making and optimize player development.
• Collaborate with coaching staff to translate analytical findings into practical game strategies and training regimens.
• Research and implement new analytical methodologies and technologies to enhance the team's analytical capabilities.
• Present complex findings and recommendations in a clear, concise, and compelling manner through reports and presentations.

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Sports Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sports analytics or a closely related field, with a proven track record of delivering impactful insights.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, data mining, and predictive analytics techniques.
• Proficiency with data analysis software such as R, Python (with libraries like Pandas, Num Py, Scikit-learn), or SPSS.
• Strong understanding of sports rules, strategies, and performance indicators across various disciplines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a diverse audience.
