Legal Professionals; Mid-Senior Level

Hire Resolve is assisting legal organisations in hiring experienced legal professionals for multiple mid–senior level opportunities across a range of practice areas and in-house functions in South Africa. This is a multi-role campaign designed to attract candidates across corporate, commercial, and advisory environments, with progression pathways toward senior specialist and leadership roles such as Senior Legal Counsel, Legal Manager, Head of Legal, Compliance Manager, Risk & Governance Lead, or Contracts Manager.

• Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders and/or clients across operational and strategic matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents (e.g., commercial agreements, supplier/customer contracts, NDAs, service level agreements, leases)
• Support matters across corporate/commercial, employment, regulatory, disputes, compliance, governance, procurement, property, or advisory work streams (aligned to experience)
• Assist with legal risk assessments and recommend fit-for-purpose mitigations to protect the organisation’s interests
• Manage external attorneys, advocates, and specialist advisors as required, including budgets, timelines, and matter strategy
• Support dispute management, including pre-litigation correspondence, document preparation, settlement discussions, and litigation oversight where applicable
• Contribute to compliance programmes, internal controls, and policy development, including monitoring regulatory changes and advising on implementation
• Maintain accurate legal records, contract repositories, and matter documentation, ensuring confidentiality and appropriate information handling
• Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, Finance, Procurement, Operations) to improve legal processes and decision-making
• Support governance processes, including board and committee documentation where relevant
• Mentor junior colleagues and uphold consistent professional standards and quality

Requirements

• Qualifications (role-dependent):
• LLB (or equivalent) is typically required for legal practitioner roles
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (or relevant practising status) is advantageous for certain roles
• For contracts, compliance, legal operations, or specialist roles: relevant degree/qualification with substantial legal experience may be considered
• Experience: Typically 5–12+ years of progressive legal experience (in-house and/or practice), aligned to mid–senior level scope
• Demonstrated capability in one or more areas such as commercial contracting, corporate governance, employment relations, regulatory compliance, disputes, procurement, property, or risk
• Strong drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and sound judgement in managing legal and commercial risk
• Familiarity with common legal tools and systems (where relevant), including document management, contract lifecycle management (CLM), matter management, and Microsoft 365
• Language: Professional fluency in English is required; additional South African languages are advantageous depending on stakeholder environment
• Ability to manage competing deadlines, work independently, and maintain discretion with sensitive information
