Production Coordinator

The Production coordinator reports to Production Manager. The position is responsible for:

• Planning, leading and organizing the shift structure, skills development / career path, KPI goals for the team
• Execution of the business objectives within his/her shift

1, Perform general shift management functions to ensure smooth running of the shift:

• Provides direction, support and guidance to team to ensure manufacturing capability and overall success in delivering on established, objectives, targets & KPI’s
• Conducts monthly staff performance reviews with staff
• Participates in the promotion of current staff in line with HR policies and procedures
• Identifies the required number of staff to be developed and considers Employment Equity policies in this process
• Provides team with clear performance standards, job profiles and development plans
• Identify, develop key skills and behaviours within the team in accordance to defined job/skills matrix
• Provides constant feedback to the team and individuals consistently engage/encourage two way communication
• Ensures compliance with all HR and IR policies and procedures (includes leave approvals, sick leave, pre-approval of overtime etc.)
• Ensures plant shopfloor discipline is maintained at all times

2, Daily tasks to ensure smooth operations within the responsible shift:

• Ensure Health & Safety and accident prevention regulations are adhered to
• Lead production shift operations within the area of responsibility by ensuring high efficiency & quality levels
• Ensure raw material and equipment availability, effectiveness & quality products (OEE)
• Processing of material into finished product and on-time delivery (Just in Sequence) to internal & external customer
• Ensure that total product quality within the shift is met & comply to all legal regulations. Ensure supply of quality products to internal & external customers
• Responsible for all direct and indirect work sequence/procedures in own area/shift
• Consult daily with the support functions in order to ensure smooth work sequence within the shift of responsibility
• Recommend new procedures and processes to improve quality and quantity & reduce production costs
• Ensure daily shift meetings takes place and KPI’s are discussed with the team leaders, co-ordinators and support functions
• Ensure 5s Standards are upheld during own’s shift
• Deals with general problems on an ongoing basis and provides advice/ support/ information, where required.

3, Ensure Planning, Leading, Organizing and Execution by applying support leadership principles:

• Utilize appropriate methods to develop, motivate and guide the team to attain successful outcomes and business objectives
• Performs planning and organization of tasks to ensure team members work efficiently and effectively during their shift
• Organizing/allocating of manning to ensure the accomplishment of objectives
• Ensure that all tasks responsible for are executed at the agreed deadline
• Provides leadership, direction, effective communication and motivation to the team
• Ensure healthy team synergy with fellow colleagues and everyone in the organization for the success of the business objectives

• Grade 12 (Essential) - National Diploma/Degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Operational Management
• 5 years Automotive experience; 5 years’ experience in a supervisory/team leader position
• Knowledge of automotive practices and PDCA principles (Plan Do Check Act model)
• Knowledge for shopfloor management
