The main purpose of the role is to ensure efficient operation of the re-winder and dry end. The main duties are to operate the paper machine and assist in the production process as a whole and ensure production is of high quality.

• Assist operators and controllers in the plant as and when required.
• Feed paper to start a new reel on the re-winder.
• Running recoveries at rewinder.
• Making a join after paper break at the rewinder.
• Monitor the rewinder equipment condition and inform maintenance when not in good condition.
• Finishing reels with edge tapes and label as per the standards / requirements.
• Capturing reel information.
• Maintaining stock levels of all core sizes, splicing tapes, reel labels, ribbons, core plugs on the rewinder area.
• Maintaining stock levels of sharp knives on the floor.
• Assist at the paper machine during tail feeding.
• Monitoring vacuum on trim suction and assist maintenance with cleaning inside winder pulper.
• Assist during breakdowns and shut.
• Assist with troubleshooting during periods of poor run-ability at the rewinder.
• Adherence to safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Ensure adherence to housekeeping standards.
• Assist any where on the plant as requested by senior management.

Matric with a pass in Mathematics and Physical Science.

Preferably with technical diploma or B-Tech.

Two years experience in a Manufacturing environment , preferably paper and pulp.

Sound understanding of Safe Material Handling Requirements.

Understanding of OHSA Standards and Good Housekeeping.

Understanding of 5S methodology and Job Card System.

Knowledge and extensive experience of the production process.
