Enrolled Nurse

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Enrolled Nurse at Nazareth House, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, ethical, and person‑centred nursing care in compliance with the Older Persons Act, SANC regulations, and organisational policies. You will be responsible for ensuring residents’ dignity, independence, and quality of life, while supervising care staff and maintaining high standards of clinical practice.

• Participate in the planning and execution of resident support plans and ensure all residents receive optimal support.
• Provide nursing care within the scope of practice of an Enrolled Nurse (SANC).
• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized care plans.
• Monitor residents’ physical, mental, emotional, and social well‑being.
• Administer medication safely and accurately in line with prescribed protocols.
• Identify and report any abuse, neglect, or exploitation in accordance with the Older Persons Act.
• Promote residents’ rights, dignity, privacy, and autonomy at all times.
• Supervise care workers, ensuring delegated tasks are appropriate and performed to standard.
• Support activities that enhance independence, mobility, and quality of life.
• Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained.

• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Oversee staff timekeeping, duty rosters, and performance assessments.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and support in geriatric care.

• Matric plus Enrolled Nurse qualification.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Proof of professional indemnity.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual with strong English written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Flexible work style and ability to work shifts.

• Dementia Care Training Certificate.
• First Aid Level 1 & 2.
• PDP License.
