• Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Minimum 7 years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• Diploma in Nursing Administration/Management required.
• Service certificates for grading according to OSD Policy.
• Computer literacy and driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statuses, and relevant legal frameworks such as the Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho-Pele Principles, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act.

• Leadership, organizational decision making and problem-solving within the public sector institutional policy framework.
• Financial and budgetary knowledge pertaining to resources under management.
• Interpersonal skills including conflict management and counselling.
• Insight into nursing care procedures and policies.
• In-depth understanding of nursing legislation, legal and ethical nursing practices and their impact on service delivery.
• Coordinate optimal, holistic specialised nursing care with set standards and within the professional/legal framework.
• Manage the supervision and utilisation of human, material and financial resources.
• Coordinate provision of effective training and research.
• Provide effective support to nursing services.
• Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
• Display concern for patients by promoting, advocating, facilitating proper treatment/care and ensuring unit adheres to Batho-Pele principles and patient-centred approach.
• Ensure Clinical Nursing practice by the nursing team in accordance with scope of practice and nursing standards.
• Knowledge of Labour Relations Act and Disciplinary code and procedure.
