Enrolled Nurse Theatre FTC

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Provide direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients or groups of patients under the direct and/or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist in administration and management by ensuring all documentation is maintained timely and accurately, reflecting patient care.
• Maintain stock control, charge all stock appropriately, and assist with file compilation.
• Provide governance, quality and risk management by maintaining a therapeutic, clean and safe environment free from medico‑legal hazards; adhere to Netcare medical waste management principles and the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act; report identified risks and equipment needing repair or replacement.
• Maintain professional conduct and standards, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
• Act in a supervisory capacity over ENA’s.
• Practice patient care according to scope of practice, contributing to holistic care, participating in unit quality improvement programmes, attending handover reports, communicating effectively with patients and relatives, and promoting infection prevention and standard precautions.
• Collaborate with the unit to execute all procedures according to hospital standards and refer all complaints from patients and doctors to the sister‑in‑charge of the unit.
• Carry out all departmental duties as assigned by supervisors.

• Support education and training of ENA’s.
• Actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals.
• Maintain personal and professional development, maintaining competence in CPR and staying up to date with evolving policies and procedures.

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse.
• Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable health care legislation.
• Relevant experience in the nursing discipline.
