Are you an experienced Quality Control Inspector with strong welding inspection and NDT expertise?
A leading manufacturing and engineering company in Pretoria is looking for a Senior Quality Control Inspector to join its team. This is a hands-on role for a quality professional who can lead inspection activities, support welding quality, conduct NDT and ensure compliance with industry standards.
To contribute to an effective and efficient Quality Control System, ensuring products meet required specifications, quality standards and customer expectations while supporting continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervise, mentor and assist Quality Inspectors with shop-floor inspections.
- Perform and document Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on welding using Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
- Assess and document the progress and competency of NDT Level 1 Inspectors in MPI in accordance with AWS D1.1.
- Perform and document six-monthly welder assessments in accordance with AWS D1.1.
- Work closely with welders to ensure ongoing compliance with AWS D1.1 requirements.
- Prepare welders for external coding/qualification.
- Conduct site inspections and assist with welding repairs where required.
- Assess welders during the recruitment and selection process.
- Conduct monitoring and measurement activities to support process capability studies and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on rework, defects and scrap
. - Assist with preparing products and inspection documentation for third-party and client inspections
. - Conduct inspections of items following galvanizing, where applicable.
- Complete and maintain inspection reports, QCPs and quality records
. - Identify and report discrepancies that may affect product quality.
- Report on the performance of the Quality Control Department.
- Conduct statistical analysis relating to quality issues, trends and improvement initiatives.
- Provide general quality administration and support.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required by the Department Head.
- Matric / Grade 12 – essential.
- Proven experience in Quality Control, Welding Inspection or a similar manufacturing environment
. - Strong supervisory skills.
- Good computer literacy.
- Strong reporting, analytical and problem-solver skills.
- Magnetic Particle Inspection Level 2 (MPI Level
2) qualification with adequate practical experience/test hours. - Welding Inspection Certification
. - Additional NDT or quality inspection qualifications will be advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for dimensional and shop-floor inspections.
- Good knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
