HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER
Location: Watloo, Pretoria

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS:

3–5 years' Health & Safety experience.
Relevant Health & Safety qualification.
Construction/scaffolding background.

ROLE OVERVIEW:
Support the organisation's safety-first culture by ensuring health and safety documentation, inspections, training, incident records, and compliance requirements are kept up to date.
Working closely with the Head of Operations and H&S team, you will help identify risks, maintain compliance, and promote safe working practices across the workplace.

Minimum requirements:

3–5 years' relevant experience in a health & safety role.
Relevant Health and Safety qualification, such as SAMTRAC or an OHS Diploma.
Construction/Scaffolding background.
Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
Experience with Passport 360 and HSEC Online.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and administrative ability.

Duties and responsibilities:

Compile, update, and maintain comprehensive health and safety files.
Prepare and maintain Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and SOPs.
Conduct regular site and floor inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
Assist with logging, tracking, and investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
Coordinate employee safety inductions and toolbox talks.
Maintain accurate employee safety training and certification records.
Audit and maintain first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and PPE registers.
Monitor safety compliance and ensure required corrective actions are followed up.
Assist with ongoing OHSA and Construction Regulations compliance.
Prepare safety presentations, reports, and supporting documentation.
Provide administrative and operational support to the Head of Operations and H&S team.
Promote a strong safety-first culture across the workplace.
