The SAMRC’s Environment and Health Research Unit (E&HRU) requires an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The position is associated with the research project CliMMetA (
Cli
mate, Muscle function and Met
abolomics in Africa), funded by the Medical Research Foundation in the UK. This project includes data from three countries - The Gambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The individual will be jointly supervised by the study co-principal investigators from SAMRC in South Africa and the University of Bristol in the UK and based at SAMRC in Pretoria. To meet the requirements of this post, we require a person with a qualification in epidemiology / public health / biostatistics / medical statistics or related relevant field.

• Assist with co-ordination of study activities and tasks
• Data processing, analysis and writing of scientific manuscripts and reports
• Create research translation outputs such as policy briefs and media output

• 2 years

• R400 000 per annum

• A PhD qualification in epidemiology / public health / biostatistics / data science/ medical statistics or related relevant field
• Evidence of excellent data analytical skills, with proficiency in STATA or R
• Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Code 8/10 driver’s license

• Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
