Senior Molecular Biologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Molecular Biologist to enhance their research capabilities within their Genomics and Gene Therapy division in Pretoria . This role involves designing and executing complex experiments to understand gene function, develop novel gene editing tools, and characterize therapeutic candidates. You will play a key part in advancing our understanding of genetic diseases and contributing to the development of innovative treatments.

The position requires a strong background in molecular biology techniques, data analysis, and a passion for scientific discovery in a collaborative laboratory setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated scientist to contribute to impactful research.

• Design, perform, and optimize advanced molecular biology experiments, including PCR, qPCR, cloning, Western blotting, and cell-based assays.
• Develop and validate new molecular assays for target identification and validation in disease models.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and molecular biology software.
• Contribute to the development and characterization of gene therapy vectors and gene editing technologies.
• Troubleshoot experimental issues, optimize protocols, and ensure the reproducibility of results.
• Collaborate with other scientists on interdisciplinary projects and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology , Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant research experience post-Ph.D., ideally within an R&D or academic setting.
• Extensive hands-on experience with a wide range of molecular biology techniques and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex biological data, including sequencing data.
• Familiarity with gene editing technologies (e.g., CRISPR) and gene therapy principles is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
