Operations & Logistics Controller Job Pretoria area,South Africa,Transportation

A fast-growing and entrepreneurial long-distance transport company is seeking a hands-on and financially astute Operations & Logistics Controller to oversee logistics operations across multiple depots while maintaining strong financial control over fleet costs, fuel management, route profitability, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily logistics operations across multiple routes and depots
Monitor fleet utilization and route efficiency
Coordinate with depot managers and fleet teams
Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements
Support contract execution (mining and long-distance routes)
Monitor diesel usage and bulk fuel controls
Track route profitability and operational cost allocation
Manage operational floats and expense controls
Ensure accurate data collection from depots
Work closely with accounting to ensure financial accuracy
Provide operational and cost performance reports to management
Monitor KPIs (fuel consumption, maintenance, downtime, route margins)
Assist in decision-making regarding expansion and fleet deployment

Requirements

Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Transport, or Finance
3–7 years’ Experience in Transport/Fleet Operations
Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
Transport or Long-Distance Fleet experience
Valid Driver’s Licence
Willingness to travel to depots
Must be hands-on, resilient, solutions-driven, and field-oriented
