Job Overview
Staff Assistant I - Student Advising Office at Utah State University. The Staff Assistant will perform a range of basic office support activities, including answering phones, directing calls, greeting and directing students and visitors, answering questions, and performing routine clerical, data entry, and/or word processing. Management of personnel calendars will be expected.
Responsibilities- Assists with new student processing and information gathering.
- Answers telephones, takes messages, and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; and answers routine inquiries.
- Performs a variety of routine typing assignments including drafting basic correspondence and data entry.
- Opens and routes incoming mail; distributes to advising department staff.
- Copies and/or duplicates materials as requested; may oversee day‑to‑day operation of copy machine.
- Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.
- May order, stock, and distribute office supplies.
- Performs other miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
- One year of office assistant experience is required
- Prior experience in a post‑secondary education environment.
- Prior experience with college‑age students.
- Experience with Banner system.
- Knowledge of USU policies and procedures
