Student and EDI & Reconciliation Coordinator Overview
The coordinator will provide administrative support and mentorship for students as needed throughout their internships and scholarships.
Responsibilities- Build relationships with faculty, instructors, students, staff, and others to understand current issues, barriers, and opportunities for student engagement.
- Support grant program compliance through tracking and reporting on metrics regarding student involvement in applied research.
- Act as a liaison with faculty, students, staff, and industry partners related to student engagement and applied research student funding opportunities.
- Coordinate the annual Applied Research Student Showcase and other knowledge transfer activities to connect students with potential employers, researchers, and Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty and staff.
- Support students through their applied research journey by developing and implementing applied research training modules and procedures for students in consultation with faculty and staff.
- Promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, decolonization, and intersectionality in applied research by planning and coordinating learning sessions to ensure applied research activities align with Saskatchewan Polytechnics Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
- Provide input on grant applications to ensure compliance with funder requirements with respect to integrating EDI & Reconciliation considerations into their research.
- Maintain current expertise in student engagement and EDI & Reconciliation practices and policies within the applied research landscape at Canadian colleges and polytechnic institutions to ensure ongoing development and implementation of best practices at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
- Apply critical thinking to synthesize information and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure positive working relationships with a multitude of internal and external partners.
- Travel to any of Saskatchewan Polytechnics 4 campuses will be required on an as needed basis.
