Position SummaryThe Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for heavy civil construction projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and subcontracted services for piling, bridge, and foundation projects
- Obtain and evaluate competitive bids from vendors and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
- Issue purchase orders and track order status to ensure timely delivery
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and site teams to forecast material needs
- Monitor inventory levels and manage material allocations across multiple projects
- Resolve supply chain issues, delays, or discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications, safety standards, and company policies
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- 3–5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in heavy civil, industrial, or infrastructure construction
- Knowledge of piling materials, structural steel, concrete, rebar, bridge components, and foundation systems is strongly preferred
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Experience using Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite desirable
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Post‑secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)

This is a full‑time remote role for a Purchaser. The Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services to meet project requirements while optimizing costs. Additional responsibilities include supplier evaluation and negotiation, inventory management, ensuring timely delivery of resources, and maintaining relationships with vendors. The role also involves preparing purchase orders, monitoring supply chain operations, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
