The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our team at various project locations in Prince George, BC and Williams Lake, BC starting in June 2026.

This role requires a strong leader with a minimum of 5 years of safety and leadership experience in heavy industrial construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all work is executed safely, in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, while fostering a strong safety culture on site.

Shift: TBD

Travel:
No flights are provided; candidates are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the project site. A travel allowance will be provided in accordance with company policy.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform general site hazard assessment and develop mitigation plan for hazards associated with scope of work.
  • Update hazard assessment as new hazards are recognized.
  • Review field level hazard assessments (FLHA) to ensure proper completion and involvement with all personnel associated with the scope of work.
  • Lead the development of job safety analysis (JSAs) in collaboration with supervision, employees and subcontractors.
  • Review or distribute known job procedures and safe work practices (including JSAs or FLHA cards).
  • Conduct safety meetings at intervals identified in the safety management plan (SMP).
  • Communicate the SMP to employees, subcontractors, client representatives and visitors.
  • Update and re‑communicate the SMP as required; forward revised copy to the area safety manager.
  • Track and report site safety statistics at set intervals using documentation provided by the area safety manager.
  • Complete incident investigations, documenting incidents, witness statements, root cause analysis as provided by OCL.
  • Assist supervision or administer post‑incident and/or reasonable suspicion drug testing.
  • Ensure work on site follows safe work permit, OCL policies, client requirements and OH&S regulations.
  • Complete scheduled safety inspections documented on OCL’s general site inspection form.
  • Communicate learnings from near misses, hazard IDs, job observations and inspections to all site personnel daily.
Education,

Skills & Qualifications
  • Certified National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or equivalent OHS certificate/diploma or CRSP.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and an understanding of safety management.
  • Valid safety tickets:
    First Aid, WHMIS 2015, H2S Alive, CSTS‑2020.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace apps (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Experience with safety programs and procedures related to construction assets.
  • Experience analyzing, developing and reviewing safety program documents for assets.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Team attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
