Aboriginal Future Student Advisor – College of New Caledonia, Prince George, British Columbia
Job SummaryReporting to the Manager of Student Recruitment Services, the Aboriginal Future Student Advisor represents and promotes CNC and its programs, services, awards and financial aid specifically for the specialized needs of Aboriginal students. The Advisor is a member of a highly motivated, professional regional recruitment team involved in planning and implementing activities that contribute to CNC’s enrolment goals.
Responsible for supporting student recruitment activities from enquiry to acceptance. Utilizes multiple recruitment methods including face‑to‑face presentations, digital communications, tours, database management, marketing and communications planning, and other strategic enrollment initiatives.
Specific Duties Planning- Participate in the development of an annual recruitment plan aligned with the College Strategic Plan, SEM Plan and Aboriginal Education Plan.
- Write reports to identify trends, accomplishments, lessons learned and recommend future recruitment activities.
- Prepare yearly comparative analysis reports as requested.
- Enhance the visibility of the College and motivate prospective Aboriginal students to enroll through various platforms.
- Advise students on program options, application, admission, registration, housing, awards, financial assistance, extracurricular activities, and orientation.
- Provide follow‑up for Aboriginal applicants throughout the admission cycle.
- Work with College staff, faculty and administrators to help applicants qualify and enroll.
- Collaborate with Future Student Advisors, student affairs staff and academic team members to meet enrolment targets.
- Deliver recruitment presentations in a variety of settings and audience sizes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents, counselors, teachers, and community partners.
- Monitor application reports, contact unqualified applicants with strategies to become qualified.
- Coordinate and attend secondary school visits and respond to inquiries via email, social media, chat.
- Participate in the Student Ambassador program and represent the College at external and internal events.
- Support Strengthening Connections BC recruitment tour annually.
- Provide information on education requirements, assessments, career exploration, and job visitations.
- Coordinate with employment and transition agencies throughout the community.
- Stay current with policies and procedures related to student recruitment and admissions.
- Participate in Strategic Enrolment Management committee work as assigned.
- Generate and maintain statistics to measure recruitment outcomes.
- Update and track prospective student data to guide them to acceptance.
- Monitor changes to competitors’ programs and promotional materials.
- Stay abreast of market trends in the post‑secondary sector.
- Conduct annual Labour Market insight sessions with Institutional Research & Enrolment Management.
- Assist in production of marketing and promotion materials.
- Play an active role in developing recruitment publications and resources for Aboriginal students.
- Create and maintain contact lists with counselors, teachers, First Nations Bands and Aboriginal Liaisons.
- Assist in developing marketing plans and initiatives for student recruitment.
- Work on integrated communications plans to promote internal and external events.
- Create, schedule, and conduct campus tours.
- Plan and implement on‑campus recruitment events.
- Assist in the execution of college student events such as Open House.
- Assist with liaison and orientation programs hosted by departments.
- Maintain strong relationships with the Aboriginal Resource Centres and Aboriginal Advisors on all campuses.
- Promote a positive work atmosphere and professional communication.

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Marketing or a related field.
- Minimum two years of directly related experience in student recruitment, admissions, academic advising or related services, and/or marketing communications.
