Indigenous Student Success (ISS) Teacher – Grad Coach

Salary: $64,341.00 to $ + ($3,500.00 provincial recruitment and retention allowance)
FTE: 0.50 (Continuing Specialist Position)
Assignment:
Determined by the Leads of Indigenous Education and School Principal.
- Provide academic support to Indigenous students, collaborating with teachers, counsellors, and administration.
- Track data, including attendance and academic achievement, and develop and implement a learning plan as part of the school team.
- Focus primarily on graduate coaching and provide additional supports for students to successfully complete their graduation path.
- Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary).
- Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Ministry of Education and Childcare.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences.
- Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas.
- Knowledge and application of a trauma‑informed approach.
- Experience using competency‑based assessment strategies.
- Strong understanding of the BC Graduation Program and experience helping students navigate course planning and completion.
- Track record of working with families and community supports to help students achieve goals.
- Ability to use assessment tools to identify needs and implement appropriate interventions.
- Experience differentiating instruction to create success for each student.
- Experience integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes.
- Commit to the BC Education Plan and system goals.
- Supporting every child in learning at high levels.
- Work closely with parents/guardians, caregivers, and the broader community.
- Commit to the Board of Education Strategic Plan.
- Support equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to strengthen student learning.
- Make evidence‑based, collaborative decisions about student learning.
- Support Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in a collaborative team environment.
- Commit to the TRC Calls to Action.
- Integrate Indigenous culture and Ways of Knowing into curriculum and learning activities.
- Preference will be given to applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
