Shape the academic journey of Indigenous students as a Cultural Advisor at Nahoonai-a Indigenous Housing. Support students' transitions and offer cultural insights while based in Prince George, BC.
This position is dedicated to enhancing the student experience through mentorship and cultural guidance. You’ll engage directly with the Indigenous community and offer critical advocacy for emotional and educational support. Collaboration with various departments and community organizations is essential to ensure comprehensive support for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Guide students towards academic success with cultural interventions
• Represent the College on relevant committees
• Coordinate with various services to address student needs
• Engage community Elders and Knowledge Holders as resources
• Support students’ transition to campus housing
Requirements:
• Degree in Adult Education, Counselling, or Human Services
• Three years’ experience with Indigenous youth
• Understanding of cultural practices and community standards
• Compassionate problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and a willingness to learn
Drive student success through cultural advocacy in this vital role.
