Junior School Teacher – temporary

Assignment
French Immersion, Career Education (Grades 8-9). The position involves teaching several subjects to the French Immersion class, including FRAL, PE, Careers, and Sciences Humaines or Science. Core French 8 and 9 blocks are also taught. Each morning starts with a 20‑minute advisory block with a smaller group of students.

Effective Dates:
Commencing May 27, 2026 until June 30, 2026, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of reduction in FTE.

Basic Qualifications

Valid BC Teaching Certificate and member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch.

Training Specialization:
Secondary Education with major/minor in French Immersion.

Related Teaching

Experience:

recent experience teaching at the junior school level.

A reasonable expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.

Additional Qualifications

Two or more courses at the 100 or 200 level in French Immersion.

Fluency in English and French – oral and written.

Applicant willing to take a language proficiency test – oral and written.

Other

Commitment to the house‑based team structure.

Fluent English and French speaker.

Portion of interview conducted in French.

Compensation & Benefits
The starting annual salary for the full‑time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
