TEACHING VACANCY: POSTING NO. 55 – JUNE 10, 2026
School: Decker Lake Elementary School – Burns Lake, BC.
Start Date: September 1, 2026.
Salary: $64,341.00 - $ + $3,500 provincial recruitment and retention allowance.
Assignment: 1.0 Continuing Position.
School Level: Grade 4/5 Teacher.
Note: This position is eligible for a provincial pre‑employment signing bonus of $5,000 upon acceptance of an offer.
Specific Assignment: Determined by the principal.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Education (Elementary).
- A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with the Ministry of Education and Childcare.
- Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at intermediate grade levels.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs.
- Understanding and use of a trauma‑informed approach in professional practice.
- Experience and knowledge in using competency‑based assessment strategies.
- Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.
- Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students.
- Commitment to the BC Education Plan and goals of the education system.
- Supporting every child in learning at high levels.
- Working closely with parents/guardians, caregivers and the broader community.
- Alignment with the Board of Education Strategic Plan.
- Supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ongoing professional learning to strengthen student learning.
- Making evidence‑based, collaborative decisions about student learning in a professional learning community environment.
- Supporting Individual Education Plans (IEP) in a collaborative team environment.
- Alignment with the TRC Calls to Action.
- Integrating Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into curriculum and learning activities.
