Assignment Details: Inclusive Education/Case Management – Specific assignment to be determined by the Principal
Location and Community
Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suwet'en peoples. The district serves five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St. James and Vanderhoof, and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. The area is home to just under 40,000 residents and serves approximately 3,000 students in standard schools and 900 FTE at EBUS Academy.
We serve a diverse population with an emphasis on equity, inclusion, and reconciliation. The district is proud of its strong community ties and the numerous natural resources that enrich student life.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Education
Completion of 3rd and 4th year level university coursework necessary for teaching senior level curricula that are part of this assignment.
Completion or partial completion of a professional certification or university degree program in Special Education
Training in functional behaviour assessment and behavioural intervention strategies.
Training or experience in the Response to Intervention model of supporting students who require assistance with their learning.
Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
Experience in IEP / IBI case management and working with intensive behaviour students.
A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with the Ministry of Education and Childcare.
Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at the junior/senior grade levels.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences.
Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs.
Understanding and use of a trauma‑informed approach in professional practice.
Experience and knowledge of competency‑based assessment strategies.
Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.
Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students.
