Position
We invite applications for the temporary position of a 0.50 FTE Grades K‑3 Blended Learning HLC Teacher – Inquiry/Project Based Learning. The role requires the ability to provide face‑to‑face instruction in Quesnel, BC and is subject to enrollment.
Heartwood Learning Communities
The Heartwood Learning Communities (HLC) are blended learning programs for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. HLC teachers support students in multi‑grade classes with diverse needs and abilities. Each HLC has a unique face‑to‑face offering, with students meeting face‑to‑face up to 2.5 days per week. During home‑learning days, educators support families across multiple platforms, plan sessions, collaborate with grade‑group colleagues and the greater HLC community.
Responsibilities & Duties
Teach and support students in blended and online learning contexts.
Deliver inquiry‑based, project‑based learning experiences.
Create and maintain online learning resources for learners and families (e.g., Desire to Learn, Google Classroom).
Use e‑portfolios, blogs and websites to support assessment for learning practices.
Coordinate and integrate community‑based programs.
Develop and facilitate parent workshops and co‑facilitate student learning.
Maintain a strong focus on literacy and numeracy across multi‑grade classroom.
Qualifications
Training, certification and/or direct experience teaching in an online learning or blended program in British Columbia.
Experience in place‑based or experiential learning.
Basic first aid; standard first aid is an asset.
Demonstrated experience collaborating as part of a teacher team to advance curriculum integration, project‑based learning and personalization.
Advanced skills teaching with e‑portfolios (Seesaw), blogs (Seesaw) and websites.
Dedication to delivering a broad range of parent workshops and supporting co‑facilitation of student learning.
Skill in coordinating and integrating community‑based programs.
Strong focus on literacy and numeracy.
Salary
Salary range is in accordance with the BC Teachers Federation.
