Salary: $64,341.00 – $

Assignment: 0.20 Limited Duration Specialist Position

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education
  • Minimum completion of 3rd and 4th year level university coursework necessary for teaching senior-level curricula
  • Completion or partial completion of a professional certification or university degree program in Special Education
  • Training in functional behaviour assessment and behavioural intervention strategies
  • Training or experience in the Response to Intervention model supporting students who require assistance with learning
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs
  • Experience in IEP/IBI case management and working with intensive behaviour students
  • A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with the Ministry of Education and Childcare
  • Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at the junior/senior grade levels
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs
  • Understanding and use of a trauma-informed approach in professional practice
  • Experience and knowledge of competency-based assessment strategies
  • Experience differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student
  • Experience integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students
