Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent, Mine Maintenance (Shovel and Drill) to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.

This role operates on a rotation of 4 days on / 3 days off at a 10-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Superintendent, Mine Maintenance (Shovel and Drill) will be responsible for maintaining the operational integrity and reliability of the mine's shovel and drill fleet.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Safety & Environment:

• Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., provincial mining regulations).
• Lead by example in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with heavy equipment maintenance.
• Conduct incident investigations, implement corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement in safety performance.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with environmental standards and company policies

Leadership & Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, planners, and skilled tradespersons (mechanics, electricians, welders, etc.).
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for team members.
• Manage shift rotations, staffing levels, and resource allocation to optimize productivity.

Maintenance Planning & Execution:

• Develop, implement, and continually optimize maintenance strategies (preventative, predictive, corrective) for shovels, drills, and associated support equipment.
• Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of routine maintenance, major component replacements, rebuilds, and breakdown repairs.
• Collaborate closely with Mine Operations (Engineering, Geology), and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless integration of maintenance activities with the mine plan.
• Utilize and optimize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) (e.g., SAP) for work order management, asset tracking, and data analysis.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment availability, and backlog, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting:

• Provide expert technical guidance and support for complex diagnostics and troubleshooting of shovel (electric and hydraulic) and drill mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Stay abreast of OEM specifications, industry best practices, and new technologies in heavy mining equipment maintenance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce operating costs.

Cost Control & Budget Management:

• Develop, manage, and adhere to departmental operating and capital budgets.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings through optimized maintenance practices, inventory management, and strategic procurement.
• Manage contractor services efficiently and effectively when external support is required.

Reporting & Communication:

• Prepare and present accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on maintenance performance, budget adherence, and safety statistics.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with direct reports, peer superintendents, and senior management.
