OverviewWSP is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team based in Northern BC and Yukon. This position is open in Prince George, Terrace, and Fort St. John offices. WSP will support relocation and accommodation for candidates wishing to relocate.

Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with engineering staff on geotechnical consulting projects.
- Share technical knowledge across geographic boundaries to foster innovative solutions.
- Prepare geotechnical studies and engineering reports recommending on various aspects based on studies and project-specific work.
- Provide expertise for multi-disciplinary projects such as highways, bridges, buildings, dams, industrial infrastructure, tunneling, etc.
- Assist in developing and leading projects requiring geotechnical investigation programs, bid documents, solicit bids, evaluate subcontractor submissions.
- Assess and evaluate geotechnical issues such as settlements, liquefaction potential, slope stabilization, interstitial over pressure, frost heave, etc.
- Support field operations: manage programs that may include boreholes, in situ tests, piezocone soundings, trenches, soil embankment construction, subgrade compaction, geosynthetic installation, etc.
- Perform other tasks as part of the role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis from an accredited university.
- Currently registered as a P.Eng. in Canada, eligible for registration with EGBC.
- Relevant experience as a P.Eng. in a Canadian province or territory.
- Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience as a consultant Geotechnical Engineer, Geomechanics Engineer, or related position.
- Knowledge of standard geotechnical software such as Geo Studio, Rocscience, or similar suites.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to be self-directed.
- Strong track record of managing and completing projects on time and on budget.
- Ability to perform critical evaluation of geotechnical analysis outputs.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license.
Salary range (BC): $96,200 - $132,200.
North Living Allowance will be applied in addition to the expected base salary. Final salary may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, and business needs.
