Occupational Safety Specialist

Position: Occupational Safety Specialist at BC Hydro
Support BC Hydro’s North Coast Transmission portfolio as an Occupational Safety and Health Specialist
2. Ensure safety compliance with internal standards and WorkSafeBC regulations while promoting a safe work environment.

In this critical role, you will leverage your depth of knowledge in occupational safety to review procedures, assess risks, and provide expert guidance. Your expertise will ensure adherence to safety standards across various technical environments. This position requires collaboration with internal safety groups and leadership in safety investigations and training development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and revise existing safety procedures

• Act as a resource for safety standard interpretation

• Assess new safety equipment for compliance

• Lead serious safety investigations and root cause analysis

• Provide guidance in developing safety training programs

Requirements:

• Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health + 3 years experience

• Valid BC Driver’s Licence required

• Completion of BCH Certified Investigator designation may be needed

• In-depth knowledge of safety in technical environments

• Must pass pre-employment drug testing
