Process Control Engineer / Specialist
Location:
Intercontinental Pulp, Prince George, BC, Canada
Design, implement, maintain and optimize process control strategies and systems. Apply and formalize process control best practices across operations. Troubleshoot and support DCS and PLC‑based process control.
Lead control‑related projects from concept through execution, ensuring timely delivery. Manage and coordinate contractors and system integrators to achieve project goals. Collaborate with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to improve process performance.
Support commissioning, tuning and testing of control schemes and advanced control strategies. Ensure documentation, standards and change management processes are followed.
Compile and present detailed reports to upper management on process control improvements and cost/benefit analysis to justify capital investment.
Key QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Process Control, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation or related discipline). Minimum 5 years of experience in process control or automation engineering. Robust verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with multiple disciplines and departments. Strong time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver results. Demonstrated ownership and project completion. Hands‑on experience with DCS and PLC systems. Knowledge of process control methodologies and function blocks.
Eligible for registration, or currently registered, as an EIT, P.L.Eng or P.Eng with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, energy, mining or process plant environments.
