Safety and Health Specialist

Position: Safety and Health Specialist Role
Elevate occupational health standards at BC Hydro as a Safety and Health Specialist 2 for the North Coast Transmission portfolio. Ensure compliance while driving safety initiatives across teams.

In this role, you will utilize your specialized knowledge to review safety procedures and develop new ones as necessary. You'll provide expert consultation for employees and contractors, ensuring internal safety standards align with WorkSafeBC regulations. Your leadership in safety investigations and training development will significantly impact workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret and apply internal safety standards

• Review procedures for compliance with regulations

• Assess safety impacts of new equipment

• Coordinate safety investigations and compile final reports

• Offer subject-matter expertise on complex safety matters

Requirements:

• Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health + 4 years experience

• Requires a valid BC Driver’s Licence

• BCH Certified Investigator designation completion may be necessary

• Expertise in construction or mechanical safety principles

• Pre-employment drug testing required
