Job description:
Chu Cho Industries is seeking a highly motivated Estimator / Project Support Specialist to support the successful execution of projects across multiple business divisions. This position plays a key role in estimating, bid preparation, project coordination, procurement support, and client relationship management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting project delivery teams, coordinating project documentation, assisting with contract administration, and identifying opportunities for future work. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being involved in projects from opportunity identification through completion.
Key Responsibilities Estimating & Bid Preparation- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for projects.
- Complete Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and Expressions of Interest (EOIs).
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and tender documents.
- Solicit pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop bid packages and assist in proposal preparation.
- Participate in tender reviews and bid evaluations.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical costing information.
- Assist in developing project schedules and execution plans.
- Support project managers with planning, execution, and project tracking.
- Coordinate project documentation, contracts, change orders, and project files.
- Track project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Assist with procurement and material purchasing activities.
- Coordinate communication between clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, and progress updates.
- Support project close-out documentation and final reporting.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
- Participate in project planning to ensure safety requirements are incorporated into project execution.
- Support contractor management and project compliance activities.
- Assist with project risk assessments and mitigation planning.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating, project coordination, construction administration, project support, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of project costing and budgeting principles.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Experience in industrial, forestry, construction, civil, or resource-sector projects.
- Experience preparing tenders, RFP submissions, and competitive bids.
- Familiarity with project management software and estimating software.
- Knowledge of contract administration processes.
- Health and Safety experience or certification considered an asset.
- Self-starter who takes initiative and works independently.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Professional and client-focused attitude.
