Job Description & How to Apply Below

Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure Ltd. publicly listed with a business objective to build a diversified midstream and infrastructure company in the North American natural gas, natural gas liquids and crude oil, refined product, and renewable space. Its strategy is to profitably grow and create shareholder value through the acquisition and development of oil and gas infrastructure. Tidewater plans to achieve its business objective by providing customers with a full service, vertically integrated value chain, including gas plants, pipelines, railcars, export terminals, storage, downstream facilities, and various renewable initiatives.

Tidewater has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Engineer reporting to the General Manager of the refinery. This is a full-time position based in Prince George, BC.

About the Role

The Senior Environmental Engineer is a key technical and regulatory leadership position responsible for ensuring environmental compliance across both the Conventional Refinery and the Renewable Diesel (HDRD) facility. This role works closely with the General Managers of both operations, as well as Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams, to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with environmental permits, applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

The Senior Environmental Engineer provides expert guidance and oversight on environmental matters affecting refinery operations and capital projects. The position is accountable for coordinating environmental compliance programs, evaluating operational impacts, and ensuring site activities align with corporate environmental objectives and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities include the preparation, management, and submission of environmental reporting requirements, including greenhouse gas emissions reporting, National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) submissions, BC Output-Based Pricing System (BC-OBPS) compliance, and programs related to volatile organic compound (VOC) reduction. This includes Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programs, fence-line monitoring, storage tank emissions management, and loading emissions compliance.

The Senior Environmental Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental management systems, procedures, and programs that minimize current and future environmental risks. The role proactively identifies compliance risks, evaluates changing regulatory requirements, and supports operational excellence through sustainable environmental performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Given the technical complexity of refinery operations, evolving regulatory requirements, and the independent decision-making required, this position is intended for an experienced environmental professional and is not considered an entry-level or junior engineering role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental permits, regulations, and company environmental standards for both the Conventional Refinery and HDRD facilities.
  • Serve as the site's subject matter expert on environmental regulatory compliance and environmental risk management.
  • Provide environmental guidance and support to Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams.
  • Coordinate and submit all required environmental reporting, including GHG, NPRI, BC-OBPS, and other federal, provincial, and corporate requirements.
  • Manage and oversee VOC reduction initiatives, including LDAR programs, fence-line monitoring, storage tank emissions controls, and loading emissions management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental procedures, programs, and management systems.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure site compliance with emerging environmental requirements.
  • Support environmental audits, inspections, permit applications, and interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance while supporting safe, reliable, and efficient refinery operations.
  • Work collaboratively with refinery leadership to integrate environmental stewardship into operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Represent Tidewater externally in the local airshed monitoring working group and industry association committees
  • Manage an annual environmental budget of approximately $1M, including supervision of external contractors
