Senior Consultant – Talent Acquisition at MD Financial Management/Scotiabank

Requisition

As a Financial Consultant you will contribute to the overall success of MD Wealth in Canada ensuring individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will assist MD clients and their families in achieving their personal financial goals, creating comprehensive financial plans and investment strategies, developing new client opportunities, and retaining clients through strong relationship building.

Responsibilities
  • Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Prepare and execute quarterly business plans to meet individual, regional and corporate targets.
  • Actively participate in prospecting.
  • Complete financial planning covering risk management, estate planning, liability management, cash flow/budgeting, education funding, tax, retirement planning, investment management, practice management and goal setting.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies based on MD Management‑developed optimal portfolio ranges.
  • Understand and comply with all industry regulations, MD’s program and process requirements.
  • Conduct financial planning seminars and information meetings throughout the region to inform clients about new strategies, legislative changes and MD Management’s programs.
  • Increase visibility of products and services through contact with centers of influence.
  • Keep current on issues affecting clients’ financial affairs, including income tax, investment trends and products.
  • Provide input to marketing and management concerning potential new products and services.
  • Travel within the established travel circuit.
  • Ensure day‑to‑day activities align with Scotiabank’s risk appetite, values, Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles, and maintain effective business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Qualifications (Must Haves)
  • University degree in business, commerce or a degree related to the practice of financial planning.
  • CIRO licensed as a Registered Representative with completed Canadian Securities Course, Conduct & Practices Handbook and 90‑day training.
  • Completion of the Group Annuity Sector (PQPAV) (Quebec offices only);
    Life License (LLQP) (all other provinces), and the willingness to complete other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Financial Planning.
  • Good product knowledge.
  • Demonstrated track record of above‑average sales in a financial services or related environment.
  • 2+ years financial planning experience within the financial services industry.
