Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is an Intern, Climate Change & Health to join our Population & Public Health department.
As the Intern, Climate Change & Health, your role will be to support the development of a Framework built on multiple knowledge systems (often referred to as a Two-Eyed Seeing or integrative knowledge framework) that intentionally combines distinct ways of knowing (., Western scientific knowledge and Indigenous knowledge systems) for Climate Change and Health Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessments (CCHVAAs) in Northern BC.
You will be guided by the Climate Change and Health team at Northern Health, working closely with relevant project leadership and steering committee. This structure ensures strong mentorship, collaborative learning, and alignment with project goals. You will have access to expertise in climate adaptation, Indigenous health, and public health, as well as opportunities to engage with relevant project partners. Your work will help to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and inspire meaningful action.
This position is time-bound and focused on achieving significant impact within a defined period. The position is fully remote, supported by digital infrastructure for virtual collaboration.
The hourly rate for this position is $20.66 to $23.26 per hour, and will be based on education, training, experience of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Currently enrolled – or accepted for enrollment – in an upper level undergraduate program or full-time Masters or PhD level program in Environmental Science, Public Health, Indigenous Studies, Planning, Geography or another related field, and available for a 13-16 week full-time internship or placement.
• Lived experience in rural/remote and/or Indigenous communities is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with climate change adaptation and health systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience applying OCAP principles, UNDRIP, DRIPA, and other relevant frameworks for ethical engagement and data governance.
• Courses completed in environmental health, Indigenous health, climate change adaptation planning, climate science, or related fields are considered assets.
