CASUAL Custodian - Regional (To Garner Applications)

Employment Status: Part Time, Casual

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Regional Principal, Manager or designate, the Custodian will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the campus as the primary focus of the role. The standardized job description applies to all regional campuses with some slight variation between locations.

• Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all areas (inside and outside) of the designated campus, including floor maintenance, disinfection, and general waste removal.
• Cleaning floors, stairwells, washrooms, shower rooms, walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, and appliances.
• Restocking custodial supplies and paper products.
• Operating commercial cleaning equipment.
• Ensuring premises security by locking doors and windows.
• Performing minor maintenance and reporting other maintenance issues or damage.
• Cleaning and performing minor & scheduled maintenance on custodial equipment.
• Using automatic chemical dispensing systems.
• Opening classroom doors as directed.
• Assisting students and the public with directions.
• Assisting with event set‑up, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment.
• Assisting with snow removal and de‑icing, as required.
• Assisting with emergency procedures such as fire alarms and evacuation.
• Maintaining professionalism in response to daily task changes and unique situations.
• Contributing to the vision, mission, and goals of the College and supporting learners' needs.
• Promoting a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating professionally with students and colleagues.
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

• Minimum Grade 10 completion.
• At least 1 year of previous experience in institutional custodial work.
• Building Services Worker I and II certification (asset).
• Occupational First Aid training preferred;
  Level 2 OFA required at Quesnel Campus.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals used.
• Experience interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Training as required by WorkSafeBC.
• Bonding and criminal records check may be required.
• Ability to organize workload efficiently.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work within and contribute to a proactive team environment.
• Physical ability to meet job demands.

Shift work may be required.
