The Role

Nee Tahi Buhn First Nation is seeking two motivated and dependable Maintenance Workers to join our Operations and Maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, these positions play an important role in maintaining community infrastructure, housing, water and sewer systems, roads, grounds, and public facilities. This is a hands-on position for individuals who enjoy physical work, problem-solving, and contributing to the well-being of their community.

The successful candidates will help ensure that community assets are safe, functional, and well-maintained throughout the year.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call work Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week)
Status: Full-Time, Permanent Location: Onsite in Nee Tahi Buhn First Nation, with occasional local travel to obtain supplies, materials, and perform work throughout the community.
Compensation: $28-30/hr based on experience

What You Will Do
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work on community buildings, housing, and infrastructure.
  • Support the operation and upkeep of water and wastewater systems.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, snow blowers, tractors, and skid steers.
  • Assist with groundskeeping, snow removal, road maintenance, and seasonal maintenance activities.
  • Conduct inspections and identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
  • Purchase and transport supplies and materials as required.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with established procedures and Work Safe BC Legislation.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.
  • Communicate maintenance needs, repairs completed, and safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist with additional maintenance and community projects as assigned.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, public works, or a related field.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and general maintenance equipment.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, standing, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Experience working for a First Nation or Indigenous organization.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and complete simple reports.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures.

Assets

  • Water or Wastewater Operator Certification.
  • Occupational First Aid Certification.
  • Training or certification in a trade, maintenance program, or related technical field.
  • Experience operating tractors, skid steers, or other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of water, sewer, and community infrastructure systems.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Regular exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent physical activity, including lifting, carrying, walking, bending, and operating equipment.
  • Occasional overtime, emergency response, and on-call duties may be required.
