Job Summary
This position provides electrical work, general maintenance and grounds work, and general support to the Facilities Services Department. The incumbent is responsible for communicating and working in a collaborative manner with the Maintenance and Grounds staff, other Facilities Services Divisions, the Facilities Services Management Team and the College community to ensure the Maintenance and Grounds Division continues to provide quality, timely, and reliable service, and that Maintenance and Grounds related projects and initiatives are successfully completed in a timely manner.

Specific Duties- Perform installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, assemblies, equipment, tools, and fixtures/finishes in/around buildings/grounds.
- Provide input, recommendations to Facilities Services Management on new or rehabilitation electrical projects, ensuring systems are to the highest industry standard.
- Inspect, monitor and report on quality of electrical related work performed and of work performed by others to ensure industry standard, project drawing/specification, building code, electrical code requirements are being met at all times.
- Ensure plans and schematic record drawings are kept current, reflecting changes or alterations made to electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure that appropriate permits are obtained, appropriate inspections are requested, licensing is maintained, and all records are kept to meet regulatory requirements.
- Perform maintenance, operation, and programming of fire alarm systems
- Perform or assist with installation and maintenance of various equipment and wiring such as HVAC , data, digital control, intruder alarm, security access control, and CCTV systems.
- Keep in regular contact with the Facilities Services Supervisor to ensure safety, quality and productivity expectations set by Facilities Services Management are being achieved.
- Ensure other staff receives orientation, training, and instruction with electrical/maintenance related equipment, tools and tasks.
- Follow occupational health and safety codes, safe work practices, and use/wear personal protective equipment and job/task specific safety equipment.
- Perform short-form work order specific safety hazard assessments, and prepare and follow work order specific safety plans.
- Provide input into the preparation of preventative maintenance work schedules.
- Ensure all work orders are carried out according to priority, procedures, preventative maintenance work schedules and other schedules as approved by Facilities Services Management.
- Prepare estimates of time, material take-offs, equipment lists, and costs for work orders.
- Keep and report records of time and costs of all work performed.
- Communicate with service providers and suppliers to obtain pricing, schedule services, order supplies, confirm supplies are received and work is successfully completed.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and restock as required.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance and compliance with all regulatory codes, safety regulations, and legislation.
