The Opportunity
Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital & Health Centre team in Masset. This relief full‑time position offers flexibility and the chance to provide longitudinal primary care to patients of all ages. The NP will attach a patient panel and contribute to a collaborative, culturally safe care environment supported by physicians, other nurse practitioners, primary care assistants, and an interprofessional team.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver longitudinal primary care to a diverse patient population.
- Attach patients per the Provincial Attachment System (PAS) guidelines.
- Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documentation and care coordination.
- Collaborate with a supportive team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in team‑based care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience in primary care across the lifespan.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to culturally safe and trauma‑informed care.
Masset is situated along the shoreline of Masset Sound on Haida Gwaii, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, and is the largest village on the island. Major industries are logging, fishing and tourism. Masset provides services for a larger rural area with a population of 1,000 local residents and services a surrounding area of 2,300 including Tow Hill (unincorporated) and Old Masset (IR).
The community has one elementary school and one secondary school.
Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre provides medical service to Old Masset, Port Clements and surrounding areas. The hospital and health centre has 4 Acute Care beds, 1 Palliative Care bed, 4 Long‑term Care beds and a 4 unit assisted living complex.

- 1 Year Experience – $156,851
- 2 Years Experience – $164,320
