Position: REGISTERED NURSE (RN), HARM REDUCTION

Role Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Aids Prevention Program as a Harm Reduction Nurse, dedicated to delivering compassionate patient care within a client‑ and family‑centered model.

Responsibilities

The Harm Reduction Nurse functions as a member of the larger Mental Health & Substance Use teams and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide direct, low‑barrier, trauma‑informed care for individuals with physical and mental health needs, substance use disorders, and/or structural barriers to care.

  • Perform physical, psychosocial, and substance use assessments.
  • Provide HIV, HCV, and STI education, testing, and treatment.
  • Administer and titrate medication.
  • Respond to overdoses.
  • Support and refer clients to other health and social services.

Contribute to the development of client‑specific care plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, other health care professionals, and community services to address clients’ complex needs.

Qualifications
  • Registered RN or RPN with a license in good standing at the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Certification in BCCSU POATSP or STI Management.
  • Class 5 driver’s licence (required to drive Northern Health Fleet vehicles).
  • Knowledge of BCCNM Decision Support Tools for RN Certified practice (where applicable).
  • Commitment to uphold professional practice standards and the code of ethics outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
