Nurse Practitioner - Upcc

Position Summary

Northern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Urgent Primary Care Clinic (UPCC) team in Prince George. This flexible position offers the opportunity to provide urgent primary care to patients of all ages in a supportive, team‑based environment. The NP will work alongside patient care assistants and other health professionals to address same‑day health concerns and bridge gaps in access to care.

The role does not involve patient panel attachment, allowing the NP to focus on episodic care and urgent needs. The clinic uses Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documentation and care coordination.

• Provide urgent primary care to patients of all ages presenting with same‑day health concerns.
• Collaborate with patient care assistants and other team members to ensure timely, effective care.
• Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) (MOIS) for documentation and clinical workflows.
• Participate in team‑based care and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Support continuity of care through appropriate referrals and follow‑up planning.

• Eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Strong background in primary care and urgent care settings.
• Excellent clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Commitment to culturally safe and trauma‑informed care.
• Completion of BCCNM approved Master’s degree level nurse practitioner program.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients, clients, residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self‑care and prognosis.
• Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate.
• Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; introduce education and evidence‑based research.
• Ability to assess and recognize population health trends; plan and implement strategies for population‑based prevention and health promotion.
• Ability to implement and evaluate planned change.
• Ability to supervise others and evaluate the care they deliver.
• Ability to lead a team and work within a team.
• Ability to self‑direct, interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations.
• Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others.
• Ability to identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient/resident/client care.
• Ability to self‑assess performance and assume responsibility and accountability for own professional development, educational or consultative assistance when appropriate.

1 Year Experience - $156,851
2 Years Experience - $164,320
