The Team The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) team provides mandated inpatient and outpatient mental health assessment and treatment services to youth involved with the justice system across British Columbia, including those found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder, through a network of clinics, contracted providers, and an inpatient unit in Burnaby.
The Role The Regional Manager for the North provides regional oversight for Court-ordered and Court-related mental health assessment and treatment services to youth involved with the justice system, including those found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder. Working in outpatient, inpatient, and custody settings, YFPS multi-disciplinary teams support youth with complex needs related to mental health, substance use, and offending behavior.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and licensed/registered as a Nurse or Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum of three (3) years of post-degree clinical experience providing adolescent, outpatient oriented mental health assessment and treatment services.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent (within the past five (5) years) supervisory experience which has included program coordination or program management.
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Recent (within the past five (5) years) experience working in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings.
- Recent (within the past five (5) years) experience working in a forensic psychiatric facility.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
