As a customer yourself, you know how important helpful service is. The impression shoppers get at the front end of the store is key to building customer loyalty. So too is maintaining a well-stocked store (for both the Grocery and Produce sections) so that the customer shopping experience is quick, easy, and efficient. Our All Purpose Clerks play a vital role in the success of our stores.
Full training is provided for this position.
- Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards, and policies in all situations
- Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
- Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
- Processes cash register payments by cash, cheque, credit card, gift card and debit
- Wraps and places merchandise in bags or carts
- Maintains cleanliness of check stands
- Stocks product to shelves such as Dairy, Frozen, produce and non-perishables
- Maintains and builds merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
- Rotates product
- Loads and unloads product for the sales floor
- Backroom and inventory management
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Required
- Ability to learn quickly

- Available to work flexible hours
- Evening and weekend availability is strongly encouraged
- Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Constant reaching, gripping
- Constant use of computer and point of sale system
- Frequent bending, walking, standing, twisting, pushing or pulling
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20-50 pounds, including waist level and low level lifts
- Occasional crouching, kneeling, squatting
