Job Summary
The Bookstore Clerk is responsible for providing services to all customers of the College of New Caledonia Bookstore by providing excellent customer service, processing payments through the Point‑of‑Sale system, and responding to customer queries. This role is also responsible for maintaining stock replenishment within the bookstore while also ensuring a safe environment for customers.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service to customers by processing purchases in a friendly, effective, and efficient manner.
- Perform cashier duties by receiving various payment methods (cash transactions, credit/debit, gift cards) from customers.
- Complete opening and/or closing responsibilities of the bookstore, including but not limited to counting till floats and completing daily cash/debit reports to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain in‑store presentation standards: product presentation, signage and promotions as requested by the College Store Supervisor.
- Restock all items in the bookstore, including but not limited to textbooks, giftware, and confectionary items.
- Complete online order fulfilment, including picking and packaging of orders.
- Maintain the bookstore in a safe and organized manner, cleaning and sanitizing furniture, surfaces and equipment.
- Report any required maintenance needs, faulty equipment, and broken/damaged items to the College Store Supervisor.
- Be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities.
- Promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the College Store Supervisor.
- High school completion or equivalent.
- At least 6 months in a customer‑service related role, preferably in a retail setting.
- Ability to handle a variety of payment methods, including using Point‑of‑Sale systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff, faculty, and other visitors.
- Strong multitasking ability by performing various tasks throughout the day.
- Physical ability to complete the demands of the position.
Salary: $27.65 per hour.

Prince George, BC.
