Surface Electrician – FIFO from Western Canada
Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor, the Surface Electrician will be responsible for delivering electrical support to surface operations, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment.
About UsThe Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world. It is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse in the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company; it aims to produce 2.7‑3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025.
WhatYou Can Expect In This Role
- Support surface mine electrical needs in compliance with Federal and Yukon Electrical Codes and related regulatory/safety requirements.
- Willingness to support underground mine electrical needs as required.
- Ensure Federal / Yukon Electrical Codes and related Regulations remain in compliance.
- Installation, troubleshooting and repair of low, medium and high voltage circuits.
- Installation, troubleshooting and repair of A/C motors and variable speed drives.
- Programming, installation and maintenance of PLCs and HMI systems.
- Electrical maintenance on all milling and mining equipment.
- Provide direction, support and guidance to apprentices as required.
- Work cooperatively as a member of the Maintenance Team.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Promote a strong environmental culture and teach environmentally friendly values and work practices.
- Foster a strong safety culture, promoting and exemplifying safe work practices throughout the organization.
- 5 years related experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
- Interprovincial Journeyman ticket.
- Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment an asset.
- Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- Pre-Employment Testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, and audiogram)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Clean Driver's Abstract

- Use and maintain PPE.
- Provide suggestions for improving work processes.
- Assist Management by supporting change to achieve desired targets.
- Ensure that plant and equipment operate within their safe working limits.
- Ensure that correct equipment is used for the job.
- Participate in risk assessment methodology.
- Participate in safety initiatives.
- Receive training and instruction as required.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards.
Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, and extreme temperatures ranging from cold to heat. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can occasionally be loud, depending on the task or location on site.
WorkLocation & Schedule
