The OpportunityThe Sobering Centre Wellness Worker is responsible for supporting clients accessing the Sobering Centre by providing a safe, trauma informed and welcoming environment where a person who is intoxicated due to alcohol and/or substance use may stay as an alternative to incarceration for public intoxication or inappropriate hospital admission through the Emergency Department.
- Screens individuals to determine eligibility as per the criteria and completes intake.
- Provides an initial assessment of the needs of the client.
- Provides sobering stabilization in a structured, substance‑free environment that includes trauma informed and culturally safe care.
- Facilitates connection to substance use services, day treatment programs and other community services and supports, including mutual aid groups.
The Role
- Two-year Social Services Diploma preferred.
- Certification with the Indigenous Certification Board of Canada an asset.
- Minimum of 3-6 months recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $26.44 to $34.24 per hour. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicant’s role‑specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and market conditions and internal equity.
