Opportunity

The Aboriginal Headstart Outreach worker ensures the Aboriginal Headstart Outreach program provides a nurturing, culturally sensitive, educational outreach program for young children and families.

  • Collaborate with First Nations, governments, and community partners in the region to improve the coordination of and access to programs and services.
  • Educate and create awareness of First Nations maternal, family and child health priorities, programs and partnerships through a continuum of care model that includes prevention (awareness and education), intervention (assessment, referrals and counselling) and support.
  • Develop and deliver age appropriate children’s activities designed to meet the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of the child that empowers them to develop a sense of self and a connection with the Indigenous communities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a field related to early childhood development.
  • Early Childhood Education certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Wage Range

The target hiring range for this position is $26.79 - $34.70 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
