  • The candidate must work with other providers including government agencies, non-profit organizations, Indigenous organizations, and other partners to deliver services through outreach programs.
  • The candidate must conduct interviews with individuals in community locations such as correctional facilities, health authority sites, shelters, and encampments to support eligibility understanding, application completion, and documentation access for services.
  • The candidate must maintain a caseload and create case plans based on individual needs and employability.
  • The candidate must support individuals toward independence, including assistance with paying bills, connecting to services and programs, attending appointments, finding accommodation, and establishing tenancy agreements.
  • The candidate will be responsible for approving and issuing income and disability assistance payments and temporary financial support, while supporting participation in ministry programs and coordinating with external partners to deliver services and gather outcome data.
  • The candidate must consider each person’s unique needs and cultural wellness when making decisions about income and disability assistance.
  • The candidate must advocate for and liaise with individuals living in supportive housing and/or experiencing homelessness.
  • The candidate must inform the public and partners about ministry services and programs through community engagements and third-party service providers.
  • The candidate must coordinate with municipal, fire, and police officials in inspecting single room occupancy dwellings for compliance with codes and standards.
  • The candidate must locate and connect individuals to community-based supports and services that meet their needs.
  • The candidate must support the training and orientation of new Community Integration Specialists through a mentor and coach relationship.
  • The candidate must enter and maintain information in an electronic database.
  • The candidate must develop trust-based relationships and support individuals in achieving their goals.
  • The candidate must work with individuals to identify traditional and cultural types of wellness and healing.
  • The candidate must build relationships in the community by creating awareness of the Community Integration Specialist role.
  • The candidate must learn and maintain an understanding of community resources and their referral processes.
Job Requirements
  • The candidate must have secondary school graduation and at least 3 years of related experience.
  • The candidate must have an Evergreen Certificate and 4 years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
  • The candidate must have experience providing services to people living in poverty and may be experiencing homelessness.
  • The candidate must have experience providing services to people experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
  • The candidate must have experience providing services to people with disabilities.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have experience working in community organizations and coordinating with multiple service providers.
