Job Description
Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using the handheld scanner as well as staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night as required
Distributes freight to local P&D Drivers
Marks materials with identifying information
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (on handheld device)
Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to the shipper's bill of lading
Starts heaters, placards trailers as required
Arrange freight in a specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space
Must take an active role in the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor, properly storing dunnage, etc.
Monday to Friday
Computer knowledge - will be responsible for end-of-day labels and handling of drivers
- Other duties may be assigned
WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate/ Forklift certification ( These items are covered with in-house training programs)
Developed problem-solving, critical thinking, decision making and judgment skills
Able to lift 50 lbs sometimes repetitive
Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully
Ability to operate our internal computer systems, handheld scanning devices
- Dependable and able to work in a dock environment safely and efficiently while meeting timelines for departures
- Knowledge of the AS400 system would be an asset
- Willing to train the right applicant
- Have own personal transportation to and from work with a clean driving record
Note:
This reflects the starting range for this position. The actual wage will be determined by the person's qualifications.
