Job Type:
Full-Time Permanent (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM, with availability for overtime and weekend work as required.)
Position Summary:We are looking for a motivated, organized, and hands-on Yard Manager to oversee the day to day operations of our Prince George yard.
The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping the yard organized and running efficiently, coordinating equipment and material movements, and ensuring equipment is ready when required. This is a hands-on position for someone with a strong sense of urgency, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to take ownership and get things done. The candidate must be able to operate an excavator.
This is a full time, permanent position based on-site at our Prince George yard.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day yard operations, organization, and safetyLiaise with the Langley Yard Manager regarding shipments, equipment transfers, mobilizations/demobilizations, and inventory requirementsCoordinate inbound and outbound shipments and freightEnsure equipment and materials are properly staged, cleaned, and ready for projectsWork with project teams, operators, drivers, mechanics, and managementOperate equipment as requiredIdentify issues proactively and respond with a sense of urgencyQualifications
Previous experience in a yard, construction, heavy equipment, or industrial environmentStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasksSelf-motivated with the ability to work independentlyStrong communication and problem-solving skillsExcavator operating experienceExperience operating other heavy equipment is an assetPrevious supervisory or leadership experience is an assetSafety Requirements
Valid Class 5 driver's license requiredValid First Aid training is an assetEquipment operator certifications are an assetRigging and hoisting experience, including proper use of slings, shackles, chains, and lifting equipment required, formal rigging certification is an assetFamiliarity with construction safety procedures and safe work practices is required.Working Conditions
Outdoor work in varying weather conditionsFrequent lifting, carrying, and moving of materials and equipmentCombination of equipment operation and physical labour throughout the workdayRequired PPE includes work boots and hard hat; additional PPE will be provided as needed.Compensation:
$40 to $42 per hour
We're looking for someone who is dependable, proactive, hands-on, and takes pride in keeping things organized and moving. You should be comfortable working in a construction environment and able to recognize what needs to be done and take action.
